REFLECTION:
Jesus often invited Peter, John and James to go up the mountainside to pray with him but this time the three apostles fell asleep. They were shocked when they woke to see Jesus, “his face changed in appearance and his clothing…dazzling white.” Even more astonishing, Jesus was talking with Moses and Elijah and then they heard words echoing from the cloud, “This is my chosen Son; listen to him.” Just think, they might have missed this sacred event if they had slept a little longer. Every now and again we catch a glimpse of God’s glory and rejoice in it, but don’t you wonder how often God has been revealing himself to us and we have been unaware. We are so focused on the multitude of things we need to do each day that we forget to be awake to God’s presence. Shall we strive in this Lenten season to be more open to God’s grace and to be more alert to God’s presence in our life? Shall we set aside some time each day to be quiet and rest in God’s goodness?
1. How are your priorities affected by your faith in Jesus Christ?
2. When you have important choices to make, do you and your family pray to make the right choice?
PRAYER:
Walk with me, dear Lord, through this Lenten season. Help me to listen to your word and to seek your presence. Allow me to renew my commitment to honor and serve you now and always. Amen.
