Participating in the Book Read is a good way to prepare to hear Mr. Kotlowitz, in person, on October 2, at Ascension, as he discusses poverty and racism. The Archdiocese Social Action Office and Catholic Social services are sponsoring the evening event.

A limited number of books are available for purchase ($15) in the parish offices at Ascension, Immaculate Conception, St. Albert and St. Helen. CATECHETICAL YEAR 2007-2008
As we celebrate Catechetical Sunday today, Ascension Parish thanks and honors all those involved in the catechetical ministry in our parish. We challenge them, and all of us, to be praying, caring, teaching, serving signs of God’s presence. Encircled by our parish community, our catechists are given a special blessing at the 9:00 a.m. Mass and are thanked for their commitment to sharing the Good News with others.

We also recognize those members of our parish who teach in other Catholic schools, and we recognize, in a special way those parishioners who witness their Christian values by teaching in public schools. We also give thanks for parents, who bear the primary responsibility for the faith formation of their children
