REFLECTION:
Jesus tells us repeatedly, “Be watchful! Be alert!” Advent is a time of expectation and preparation. We are invited to let down our guard and welcome God into our very being. We wait and we watch as we allow ourselves to become more aware of God’s presence in our lives. Strengthened by our awareness of God’s love for us we may be able to look more honestly into our souls and ask God’s forgiveness for our sins. This can be a peaceful time as we cherish God’s generous mercy. God invites us to listen for God’s guidance and accept humbly God’s forgiveness. Advent is a time of hope. It offers real opportunity for change as we deepen our relationship with God. We may discover new ways to use the gifts God has given us. Perhaps we will deepen our prayer life or expand the ways we serve our brothers and sisters. As we become more open to God’s presence in our lives we may be more willing to share that awareness with others. Let’s listen closely to Jesus this Advent. Let’s be watchful. Let’s be alert to all that God has in store for us.

1. At this time, how faithful do you feel you are being to God’s plan for you?
2. What good thing might God be asking you to do right now?

PRAYER:
Help me, Lord Jesus, to prepare myself for your coming. Grant me the humility to admit my sins and the faith to ask your forgiveness. Amen
