REFLECTION:
Who did the disciples think Jesus was? When the squall came up on the Sea of Galilee and tossed their boat violently, they immediately turned to Jesus to save them. And yet, they were amazed when, at Jesus‘ command “The wind ceased and there was great calm.“ They certainly hadn’t expected him to control the wind and the sea. That action told them Jesus was much more than a great Teacher, more than a healer. They had expected him to help them somehow but were overwhelmed to see him do what only God does. We, too, trust that Jesus will be with us in the storms of our life. We cry out to him in fear. He doesn’t always stop the storm but his presence can affect how we deal with the storm. Jesus can give us strength and wisdom as we work through our difficulties. His loving presence can calm our anxieties, lend us hope and lead us to peace. We may sometimes have to remind ourselves that we are not alone in our suffering. We do not have to deal with the storm all by ourselves. We need only to turn to Jesus and allow his gifts to fill our heart.

1. When has the Lord calmed the stormy seas of your life?
2. What fear would you like the Lord to help you overcome?

PRAYER:
Dearest Jesus, I know you are with me always. Help me to accept your loving care in the best and worst of times. Amen
