REFLECTION:
Scripture tells us repeatedly that we need to make choices. We are to seek that which best fulfills us as human beings and avoid that which diminishes our humanity. The good things of this world we are intended to enjoy – family, friends, fulfilling work, the beauty and the bounty of the world. But balance seems to be so very important. If we allow the work we do to become an end itself and forget to take care of our health or the emotional needs of our family, it may be time to re-check our priorities. Friendship is a good thing, but if we choose friends who lead us away from the morals we cherish, perhaps we need to reconsider our choices. Providing for our financial security is a good value, but if the acquisition of more and more becomes the driving force of our life, perhaps it is time to pause and reflect. It is not always easy to choose wisely, but if we can keep our focus on Christ who is our model, surely he will guide us.
1. When have you felt that possessions were becoming too important in your life?
2. What is your purpose in life? How does what you do with your days accomplish that purpose?

PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, grant me the wisdom to make good choices in my life. Help me use the gifts you bestow on me to follow more closely the path to you. Amen
