Can’t commit to a small group for six weeks? Sign-up for our “Open Night”. Participants can come to one, some or all sessions as their schedule allows.
Fall 2008 Information:
- Groups start: week of October 5, 2008. If you are not active in a group and wish to join a group or investigate leading a group, contact Jim Murray 253-5171.
- Sign-Ups for New Members: Begin September 14, 2008.
- We are using Book 1: The Profession of Faith: What We Believe Discover the basic truths of our faith and how they connect with our daily living. The fall chapters to be covered include: (1) Desire for God; (2) God’s Revelation: Tradition and Scripture; (3) Faith: I Believe, We Believe; (4) The Trinity; (5) The Mystery of Creation; (6) The Incarnation.
- Adult Faith Enrichment Session, “Scripture & Tradition-The Braid of Revelation”: Sunday, October 5, 7:00-9:00pm Ascension Witzman Center. Note-event is open to ALL parishioners whether or not you are in a Why Catholic? group.

Dear Friends in Christ,
Do you long for a deeper appreciation of the beliefs, richness, and joy of our Catholic faith? To really understand the power of God’s Word in our lives? To find ways to link our faith with our everyday life? You’re not alone, so do many others.
Why Catholic? is a unique opportunity for our parish communities to reclaim our Catholic identity and make our faith not only more meaningful, but truly alive! We are therefore, extremely pleased that we will be participating in Why Catholic?
Why Catholic? promises to be a very powerful means of growth for each of us individually, as well as for our parish communities. What is Why Catholic?
Why Catholic? is a unique adult faith formation program that is solidly based on Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
Why Catholic? offers a concrete approach to help adults deepen their Catholic faith and connect its teachings to their everyday lives.
Why Catholic? encourages learning in a prayerful small-community setting.
What are the themes of Why Catholic?
- Life in Christ: Walking with God Explore the Ten Commandments and the Beatitudes as sources of moral wisdom and blueprints for living the Christian life.
- Christian Prayer: Deepening my Experiences of God Experience different forms of prayer as ways to grow more deeply in our relationship with God.
- The Profession of Faith: What We Believe Discover the basic truths of our faith and how they connect with our daily living.
- The Celebration of the Christian Mystery: Sacraments Appreciate the richness of the Mass and see the sacraments as doors to the sacred.
Who can Benefit?
- Parents who want to pass on their faith
- Catechists who want to enhance their faith
- Adult candidates and catechumens who want to learn the faith
- Parish organizations and staff who want to reflect on their faith
Ways to get Involved?
Join a small Christian community
Groups will meet for 6 weeks in the fall and 6 weeks in Lent. Sessions are 1.5 hrs each.
Attend the Parish Retreats and Enrichment Sessions
Every six months our parishes will gather to deepen understanding of our Catholic identity through a faith enrichment presentation or a retreat experience.
Pray
Pray for the success of this endeavor for our parish communities.
