Christ Renews His Parish

WHAT IS “CHRIST RENEWS HIS PARISH”?
CRHP is a spiritual program that provides parishioners the opportunity to share with one another the ways they have found meaning, hope, peace and love in their lives. It is a process that enables you to develop a stronger bond with God and fellow parishioners. The process is personal, inspirational, and fulfilling. Many participants feel that the “weekend experience” was among the most powerful and positive of their lives.

WHAT HAPPENS ON A “CHRIST RENEWS HIS PARISH WEEKEND”?
This is a two-day retreat, each participant arriving to the weekend at a different stage in his or her journey with Christ. The atmosphere is casual and each participant is afforded the gift of time, tools, and experiences of other men or women, just like you, striving to cope with a challenging world. Many of your fellow parishioners, who have previously attended, are happy to share their experiences. There are four sessions, two for men and two for women. The two weekends are not mixed sessions and allow for a husband and wife to attend on the different weekends and still attend to family needs. Most participants are aged 25 and above. The “Christ Renews His Parish” Weekend is a break from your busy schedule of personal, business and family obligations so that you can refresh yourself spiritually and renew your heart by meeting with and listening to the experiences of other men or women from our Parish in an informal and relaxed environment of reflection, fellowship and fun. Everyone is free to share as much or as little as they feel comfortable doing. Opportunities for scripture sharing, Reconciliation, and Eucharist are provided during the weekend. Most participants choose to go on meeting regularly after the weekend to continue their journey with Christ.

WHEN AND WHERE DO THESE WEEKENDS TAKE PLACE?
Ascension hosts men’s and women’s retreat weekends at the parish. The activities take place in the Witzman Center and the church.

HOW LONG IS THE WEEKEND?
The weekend begins about 8:00 A.M. Saturday and concludes by 5:00 P.M. on Sunday.

WHO MAY ATTEND?
Any adult, 19 years of age and older and a member of Ascension parish.

DO I NEED A PERSONAL INVITATION?
No. If you are interested, please contact Deacon Vic by phone or email at the parish office.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?
Just pick up a registration form in the narthex and return it to the parish office.

WHO CONDUCTS THE WEEKEND?
The renewal team is comprised of a Spiritual Director, Lay Director, and other parishioners who have previously attended a renewal weekend.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Casual and comfortable clothing is appropriate for both Saturday and Sunday. The entire Weekend is informal (dress very comfortably).

WHERE WILL I SLEEP?
Sleeping accommodations are in the Witzman Center, the lower level of the church. Single air beds are provided; you just need to bring your pillow, blankets, or a sleeping bag. Every effort will be made to accommodate special needs.

WHAT ABOUT MEALS?
Meals and snacks are provided by members of Ascension parish. If you have a special diet, please let us know when you register so we will be able to provide for your needs.
