Ascension School offers a school lunch and breakfast program to provide your child with nutritious and well-balanced meals each day at minimum costs. Menus are carefully planned and accommodations are made for students with food allergies. Meals are prepared on site at Ascension by St. Albert Catering. Ascension Elementary School was among 34 schools in the state recognized by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) for the 2010 Stellar Award for Best Nutrition Practices. Ascension offers high quality food, low sugar and fat content, a variety of healthy snacks, as well as proper food temperatures; sanitary tables and equipment; a student wellness advisory counsel; proper exercise in the school (physical education, recess time with outdoor activity and the extended day program); awareness of student allergies; communication of nutrition information with teachers; breakfast program; daily lunch announcements from the office staff; recycling; continued education of cafeteria staff; student education with posters; parent volunteers involvement for special programs; wellness fairs and more.
