Big Spaghetti Dinner Thanks!!

Ascension Athletic Board would like to thank all of the volunteers and attendees who helped make Friday Feb. 1st a HUGE success and all around fun time. The evening went off without a hitch and the fundraiser for Athletics was the most profitable in years.

Special thanks go to Greg Sorice and the ‘Sons of Italy’ who provided the spaghetti and meatballs. Karen Westgerdes and Linda Mead were outstanding as the basket coordinators. They and all the contributors went above and beyond with over 40 excellent baskets that kept the bidding fast and furious.  Mary Sommers and her crew in the kitchen were awesome.  Dan Bitler, the emcee of the night, doubled as the Horse Race announcer and made the night fun for all.   Jon Reichman and his crew did a great job selling the Instant Bingo. Jon Reichman, Andrew Braun, Nicole Braun, Karen Westgerdes, Bill Baron and Melissa Manning helped setup for the event and were invaluable. And lastly thank you to Larry Blevins and Greenleaf printing for providing us our ‘Spicy Meatball’ shirt. Luckily Larry made a few extra because they were in demand! The Athletic Board is looking forward to your continued support and an equally successful fundraiser next year.

 

Athletic Handbook

The mission of CYO is to provide the Catholic Youth of the Greater Dayton Area an opportunity to participate on athletic teams under Christian leadership and supervision.

VIRTUS Training/Child Protection

At Ascension, we take the protection of our young people very seriously.  All coaches and volunteers must attend a VIRTUS Child Protection Awareness Session and undergo an Archdiocesan background check before working with young people.  For more information about the Child Protection requuirements of Ascension and the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, please visit our VIRTUS/Child Protection webpage

 

 

 Concussions and Youth Sports

All of us involved in youth sports are becoming more and more aware of the long term negative effects of concussions.  The Ohio General Assembly has passed a new law that takes affect on April 26, 2013  that deals with concussions.  That law has implications for both athletes and coaches.  Please see our Concussion Awareness page for the information you need to keep our young athletes safe and comply with this new law.
