The idea of a twinning relationship began during Father Dave Brinkmoeller’s trip to Peru in 1999. He contacted Father Joe Deardorff, Pastor of Nuestra Senora de la Luz (NSL) in Lima about the possibliity of developing a partnership between the two parishes.
Father Dave asked for parishoners who were interested in forming a twinning committee.
Currently there are 14 members of the committee. The group meets once a month to discuss the development of the relationship and how to keep the relationship alive and active in the parish.
Norma Colussi and Bill Bell have made several trips to Peru to continue learning the cultures and customs of the people of NSL.
Johnson Romero Rosas, a member of NSL, is currently in the area attending ELMI at the University of Dayton and is being supported by the committee and parish community.
The goal of the twinning community is the mutual sharing of pastoral experiences to benefit and support both communities.
We also hope to maintain an ongoing communication physically and spiritually with NSL identifying this experience with the reality of our own life of faith in God.
