Knight of Columbus Council #14891 – Our Lady of the Light

Our Lady of the Light Council was chartered November 2009 at Ascension Church, Kettering, OH. We meet the first Wednesday of every month in the Witzman Center at Ascension Church.

Council Program

The Council Activities adheres to the principles of our Order. The activities within this program promote a more vibrant council, attracting participation as well as help to expand membership. Working, playing and praying together creates the positive atmosphere that will make all better Catholic men.

The information above and the possible activities are based on suggestions found on the Ohio State Council website. We are a new council and have started new programs, but we will continue to add more.

The Knight of Columbus are dedicated to their families and we recognize that they are very important to the success of our council. One way to recognize this is to host an appreciation night for the ladies that support us.

Council hats and shirts have allowed us to look the same at events and provide visibility to the parish.

The Knightly News is a monthly publication (available from the Yahoo groups) for KofC members.  This newsletter provides a location for everyone to know what is going on and increase effective communication.

We will try to host patriotic activities.

Council socials can help to bring our members closer and allow us to share ideas for the future.  We hosted a night at the races this year for the council.  This time we did this for a social for our council and it was a very good time.  In the future, we will use this a fundraiser and invite the entire parish.

Recognition of Past Grand Knights or Council Awards Dinners allow us to recognize those whom have devoted a large amount of time to our council and all of our programs.

We also stepped up to host the Soccer Challenge for the district.

This website is a start towards the open and timely communication we strive for with our members and our parish.

Our lecturer has provided many great topics to enrich our knowledge of our catholic council roots.  The topics have included information on Oregon School Law, Knights of Columbus Beginnings, The Pledge of Allegiance – One Nation Under God, The Emblem of the Order, The Rosary, The Sign of The Cross, The Red Mass, Holy Water, and The Advent Wreath.

The previous are examples of ways to make our council strong. We welcome any other suggestions.
