Knight of Columbus Council #14891 – Our Lady of the Light

Our Lady of the Light Council was chartered November 2009 at Ascension Church, Kettering, OH. We meet the first Wednesday of every month in the Witzman Center at Ascension Church.

Family Program

Family is the mainstay of our life, for without it we would not be who we are or where we are today. We were all born into a family, we have a family of friends and work associates, we have our immediate family, and we have our K of C family.

Our Strong in Faith & Service Family Activity Program promotes the most important of these family units, ‘our immediate family’ and our ‘Catholic and Faith family’. If we are to live and enjoy a life of love, peace, unity, and faith, we must do it through the family. These family units allow us to share these gifts and fashion us into the type of family that God created and wants us to strive to be, the Holy Family.

The information above and the possible activities are based on suggestions found on the Ohio State Council website. We are a new council and have started new programs, but we will continue to add more.

In November, a memorial mass is held for those members of the K of C Family we have lost.

As a start to family holiday activities we are hosted an Easter egg hunt and will continue this new tradition.

We also plan activities for the families of the Knights of Columbus to have fun and get to know each other.

We need to reach to those families in need within the Community.  We have begun helping the church resettle people to the local area moving here from other countries.

Marriage is a Holy institution and we need to do everthing we can to support the couples in our parish.

We may plan a Family Corporate Communion Breakfast to allow families to gather for communion and a meal.

We have begun hosting a breakfast with Santa and Santa even brought some gifts early.

The previous are examples of ways to strengthen our families. We welcome any other suggestions.
