Ministry Core StrategyContinue to strengthen our catechetical mission of education in faith across the generations through religious education, Catholic school, youth ministry, and adult formation in collaboration with other parishes, the Deanery, and local universities.

ASCENSION SCHOOL

Principal:  Susan DiGiorgio ………. 937-254-5411 (sdigiorgio@ascensionkettering.org)

Ascension School is a Catholic school dedicated to the promotion of gospel values and the education of the students of Ascension Parish.  It exists to aid and support the parents in their responsibility to educate their children.  There are many opportunities to get involved with our school as volunteers in the media center, lunchroom, office, technology lab, playground and tutoring.

Four-year-olds through grade 8 students who attend public schools are encouraged to participate in the Religious Education Programs that meet regularly from September to May on Sunday mornings.  This is per the policy of the Center for the New Evangelization of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.  A variety of events for parent participation occur throughout the year.  To register a student, to volunteer as a catechist or assistant or to help in the fields of music, art, or liturgy, please contact Tara Schumaker.

Youth Ministry

The Kettering Catholic Community believes that young people are God’s gift to the Church; a gift that calls us into ministry to, with, and for our youth. By the grace of the Holy Spirit, we serve the youth of our parish and their families. Therefore, we empower young people to live as loving disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today, draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community and foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.

DOCK High School Program (Disciples of Christ the King)

DOCK is our Kettering Catholic Community High School Program which typically meets Sunday nights, 6:30-8:30 PM in the youth room in St. Charles School.  Our theme is “faith in action.”  We alternate our time together to include social, spiritual and service nights.   DOCK is a place where teens say they feel like they can be themselves.  It is a place where teens feel seen, heard, and understood.  We make it a point to show radical hospitality and inclusion.  Teens come to DOCK when it works for them.  It is not something where a teen has to come every week, although they are welcome to.  Friends are always welcome and do not have to be Catholic or KCC parishioners to join us.  We welcome teenagers from all schools/homeschools to join us as we journey in our faith lives together, grow in community and benefit from being a part of something bigger than ourselves, as we serve others.

Junior High Program

Our Kettering Catholic Community is offering some “1st Friday” social and service events for our youth in grades six through eight.  We begin and end in prayer and give kids a place to experience “faith in action”.  It is a great place to meet friends and to grow in relationship with God and with others.  Again, it is a place for kids to be a part of something bigger than themselves.  Our goal is for the kids to recognize their inherent dignity as sons and daughters of God, created in His image and likeness.
