Church of the Ascension Conference of the St. Vincent de Paul Society
St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) is part of an international Christian community founded in Paris in 1833. SVDP is committed to offering emergency assistance with utilities, clothing, furniture and other services to our neighbors in need. Our conference for the most part covers the parish boundaries.
Our mission is to bear witness to Christ and His Church by assisting families materially and spiritually on a person-to-person basis.
Our ministry includes:
- Home visitation to those in need.
- Helping with household expenses as needed (gas, electric, water, rent, and other needs).
Our conference is one of over 30 in the Dayton District Council. Our conference members are called Vincentians and we meet on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month at 7:00 PM at the parish office. Meetings are about one hour long and focus on the spirituality of our ministry and discussions of current and planned programs along with the disbursement of our financial help to those in need.
New members are always welcome. We are always seeking additional volunteers. We have many capacities that help us serve our neighbors. We emphasize assisting others with dignity and promoting self-sufficiency whenever possible. We will provide training and plenty of time for you to discern whether the Spirit is calling you to our ministry. If you are interested, please leave a message on our Help Line at 937-253-5171 x106 and one of our members will respond to your call.
For those who need assistance, please contact the St. Vincent Conference at Ascension, 937-253-5171 x106, and leave a detailed message with your name, complete address including zip code, a contact number where you can be reached along with your need.
