Mission

Vision Statement

A joyful Catholic community who welcomes, inspires and challenges all to be Christ-like.

Mission/Purpose Statement

Rooted in sacramental life, we strive to be a vibrant, active and welcoming Catholic community. We encourage all to give glory and praise to God through knowing and sharing God's love in our homes, in our communities and throughout the world.

Mary, Mother of God and our mother,

Dependent on your intercession

we place our Family of Parishes

under your mantle of protection.

As you welcomed Christ into the world,

may we welcome all with a spirit of generous hospitality.

With you as our example of perfect discipleship,

may we inspire both young and old to faithfully follow Jesus.

May your purity and holiness be our model

as we boldly proclaim the truths of God’s love through word and Sacrament.

Guide us, O blessed Virgin, that we might point others to your Son, our Lord.

Protect us, O Mother of the Word Incarnate, from the snares of the Devil.

Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Amen

Exciting News About Our Beacons of Light Progress!

In June of 1955, Father Arnold F. Witzman received a call from Archbishop Karl J. Alter to move from Cincinnati to Dayton to organize a new parish—a parish which came to be known as The Church of the Ascension.  Ascension's historical milestones can be found here.

On July 1, 2022, the Archdiocese of Cincinnati's Beacons of Light Program was implemented. As part of this process, St. Albert the Great, St. Charles Borromeo, and the Church of the Ascension became one Parish Family known as the Kettering Catholic Community.  On December 1, 2024, this name changed to the Mother of God Family of Parishes.
